This valve is a fixed-orifice, non-pressure-compensated flow control with a reverse flow check. The flow setting is specified by the user and is set at the factory.
Customer must specify the orifice diameter.
All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
These are essentially check valves with bypass orifices. The flow path matches Sun's flow controls and can be used in any flow control manifolds. Valves with the opposite direction of flow can be found under check valves with bypass orifices.
Because these valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
Vented counterbalance valves with pilot assist are meant to control an overrunning load. The check valve allows free flow from the directional valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) while a direct-acting, pilot-assisted relief valve controls flow from port 1 to port 2. Pilot assist at port 3 lowers the effective setting of the relief valve at a rate determined by the pilot ratio. Backpressure at port 2 does not affect the valve setting because the spring chamber references the vent (port 4).
Other names for this valve include motion control valve and over-center valve.
Counterbalance valves should be set at least 1.3 times the maximum load induced pressure.
Turn adjustment clockwise to decrease setting and release load.
Full clockwise setting is 200 psi (14 bar).
All 4-port counterbalance, load control, and pilot-to-open check cartridges are physically interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
Fixed-orifice, pressure-compensated flow controls provide precise flow regulation for meter-in or meter-out applications where there may be wide pressure fluctuations. The flow setting is specified by the user and is set at the factory.
Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
The tuneable control option provides +/- 25% variation from the nominal factory pre-set flow. Turn the adjustment clockwise to increase.
This valve is a pilot to open check valve. It has a sealed pilot, a steel seat, and is non-vented. It allows free flow from the valve (port 2) to the load (port 1) and blocks flow in the opposite direction. Pressure at the pilot (port 3) will open the valve from port 1 to port 2. Pilot pressure needed at port 3 to open the valve is directly proportional to the load pressure at port 1. Pressure at port 2 directly opposes pilot pressure.
Provides hose break protection, prevents loads from drifting and positively locks pressurized loads.
Extremely low leakage. The seat and poppet are heat treated for long life. If the load drifts due to the valve, the seat has probably been damaged by contamination and the valve should be replaced.
Sealed pilot for use in circuits where cross port leakage is undesirable.
Note: Available only with 30 psi or 75 psi (2 bar or 5 bar) check valve cracking pressures.
Free-flow, nose-to-side check valves are on/off circuit components that allow free flow from the inlet (port 1) to the outlet (port 2) and block flow in the opposite direction.
Two-port check valves share the same cavity for a given frame size, however, pay close attention as flow paths may be in opposite directions.
Check valves offer extremely low leakage rates with a maximum leakage of less than 1 drop per minute (0,07 cc/min).
Will accept 5000 psi (350 bar) at ports 1 and 2.

Free-flow, side-to-nose check valves are on/off circuit components that allow free flow from the inlet (port 2) to the outlet (port 1) and block flow in the opposite direction.
Two-port check valves share the same cavity for a given frame size, however, pay close attention as flow paths may be in opposite directions.
These check valves are considered circuit savers for existing circuits where manifold drillings are incorrect. The capacity of side-to-nose (port 2 to port 1) 2-port check valves is approximately 30% less than preferred models with a nose-to-side (port 1 to port 2) flow path.

Two-port, pilot-stage needle valves are fully adjustable devices used to regulate pilot flow in a main-stage valve or to meter in/out flow in low flow applications. These cartridges are designed for pilot flow applications and utilize Sun's T-8A cavity so they can be used in conjunction with Sun's pilot-operated, main-stage valves.
Utilizes the Sun T-8A 2-port cavity making it the ideal choice to use in conjunction with Sun's main stage pilot or vent-to-operate cartridges. Separate pilot lines are eliminated and only one cavity needs to be machined to accommodate both the control and primary function. Note: All 2-position, 2-way pilot stage control cartridges utilize the same cavity and are physically interchangeable. Functionality is the only consideration.
Note: The main stage valve should first be installed to the correct torque value followed by the T-8A pilot control section into the main stage valve to its required torque value.
Ports 1 and 2 may be pressured to 5000 psi (350 bar).
Needle adjusts from fully closed to fully open in three complete turns resulting in extremely fine resolution.
